Omar Kamel has been playing video games since the early days of the ZX-81. He moved on to the ZX-Spectrum, then to the Atari ST, then to the Xbox 360, a PS4, and now the Oculus Quest. His favorite all-time games are Tokyo Extreme Racer, Power Stone 2, Blur, Batman: Arkham Asylum, Horizon: Zero Dawn, God of War (2018), and, more recently, Beat Saber and Racket Fury.
Colossal Cave is a colossal bore. It's a point-and-click port of a text-based game that refuses to acknowledge the medium to which it's been ported.
The Bobo VR M2 Plus strap is a great accessory for the Quest 2. It’s far superior to Meta’s own Elite Strap. It’s well-built, well-designed, and the hot-swappable batteries allow for almost infinite VR playtime.
A great sequel that feels more like an extended DLC, Moss: Book II has great graphics, great animations, and fantastic sound.
With great core mechanics, a fun concept, and a great art style, The Last Clockwinder is weakest at scope and exposition; it's a good game and a fun puzzler if not the must-have title I'd hoped it would be.
The graphics in Iron Guard are crisp and clear; most enemy units are easily distinguishable, the environments are varied and colourful, and atmospheric effects lend a visual flair to the action.
Area Man Lives offers an interesting concept, great voice actors, and a touching story but suffers significantly from some issues that could easily be remedied with updates.
Despite getting the game a few days before it was released, Tentacular took a lot longer to complete than I had expected.
Unbinary is a reasonably slick escape room puzzler with a few unique twists and a flair for story and style. It's brief enough not to wear out its welcome but so easy to complete that any competent puzzle solvers will feel cheated.
Lucky's Tale knows what it is, and it's happy to be just that, and it tries its hardest to make sure you have a smile on your face all the way through.
Unplugged is fun to play, and an oasis for Quest players tired of EDM-based rhythm games. It proves hand tracking is viable but is held back by some design choices and a juvenile presentation.
Ven VR Adventure's gameplay offers pretty much what you'd expect. You're on a mission to save the known universe from a villain whose motivation to conquer and destroy is undoubtedly driven by the fact that his name is Bruce Nelson.
