The Oculus Quest is home to lots of great puzzlers. Some of them are ‘escape room’ styled puzzlers, like I Expect You To Die, or Shadow Point, and some are set in various strange places, like the fantasy forests of Moss or alien planets like Red Matter. Some are even games that can be played both as shooters and as puzzlers, like SuperHot VR! No matter the style, here are some games that’ll get your grey matter working!
Tetris Effect is a flawless, technically incredible re-imagining of Tetris as a sensory dreamscape journey, which is not only mechanically solid and a damn good game, but one of the best examples of games as an entirely original art form. As good as games get - and a completely essential Quest purchase.
Myst in VR is fantastic; a polished iteration of a classic title which has been thoughtfully and carefully realised. It's by far the best way to play Myst, and if you like your games thinky and immersive, it's a must buy.
With its high-quality humor, excellent production values, and smart level design, I Expect You To Die captures the spy genre perfectly, then locks it in a room with lasers, poisonous gas, and evil assassins.
With an attractive art style, great writing, and genuinely lovable main character, Ghost Giant presents an absorbing, whimsical and ultimately rounded experience which is an absolute must-buy for fans of narrative VR experiences. It's just a pity and a missed opportunity that it doesn't utilise hand-tracking.
he Room VR: A Dark Matter is a creepy puzzle game which satisfies, thrills and rewards in equal measure. It'll draw you in with its fantastic atmosphere, great setting and classy graphics, and hook you with its precisely-wrought and polished (but never obtuse or demanding) puzzles. A must-play VR title which plays best on the Quest.
